Senior Cricket Awards 2019/2020

Unfortunately COVID-19 rained on the parade of the 2019-2020 Season Presentation Evening and awards. In order to acknowledge the achievements and contributions of players, awards were announced over Facebook in March. Below are your 2019/2020 senior cricket award winners, congratulations to each of them!

Coaches Award: Angus Groen

In 2019/20, Angus was the drummer in the First XI band. A constant face in an often revolving changeroom, he turned up rain, hail or shine with a smile on his face and a genuine desire to improve. Angus took on the two most difficult and thankless roles in cricket- wicket keeper and opening batsman- and showed enormous resillience and positivity in the face of the setbacks that each of those roles can (and often do) provide. The fate of a keeper-opening batsman is almost comical in its cruelty- when a keeper does well he is invisible, and any clown with a new ball on a fresh wicket can produce a nickable ball- but Angus was determined to be the best player and team man he could be and never shirked an issue. His alter ego ‘Mango’ was also a standout performer socially. Well done Angus, a true ‘CY’s Man’.
