ABOUT WILLIAMSTOWN CYMS CC
The Williamstown Catholic Young Men's Society was founded in 1886. Initially the club was aligned with the church, and while the 'CYMS' still proudly reflects the club's history, it is now a totally independent member-driven club with no religious motive or affiliation.
Vision, strategic planning and commitment are key elements to the success of our club in coming seasons.
Vision: To be the club of choice in Williamstown
Our priority as a club is to create an inclusive and encouraging environment, where players can develop their skills and enjoy a fantastic social environment. The juniors and seniors work very closely together and an internal measure of success we have set ourselves is to see more local players transitioning from junior to senior cricket at CYs, which is well reflected in our current crop of players.
In Season 2019/2020, the CYs fielded three senior teams in the Victorian Turf Cricket Association (VTCA) in season, which is regarded as the best club turf cricket club competition in VIctoria and provides an ideal progression for junior players into senior cricket. We aim to expand this number of teams as our player base continues to grow, and are excited to be fielding a senior women's team in Season 2020/2021. In the last 10 years, our success includes top four sinishes twice for our 1st XI, as well as two grand-final appearances and one premiership. We have seen our 2nd XI finish in tghe four three times and play in one grand final.
Williamstown CYMS has fielded junior cricket teams at various stages of its history, but this had fallen away in the recent past. In 2007, the club has re-launched its junior program as part of a plan to secure the long-term future of the club. The club's young junior teams play in the Western Region Junior Cricket Association (WRJCA), and the Woolworths Blast program is conducted at the Fearon Reserve, on Osborne Street.
